Markham College wins first Inter-Schools Cup

  Posted on: November 28th, 2010

DPP_0010Markham College, boasting a number of players from the Peru U13 squad, had comfortable wins against Cambridge School and Hiram Bingham School, on Sunday, 21st November, 2010 in order to win the inaugural Lima Inter-Schools Cup.

Pick of the batsmen was S. Chavez, who top-scored with 28 in the final; while the best bowler was E. Arrarte, who picked up 3 wickets for 11 runs over the course of the tournament. Not surprisingly, both are from Markham College.

Hiram Bingham had reached the final courtesy of a hard-fought win over Newton College. J. Lewis, opening the batting, anchored the innings, as they reached 34 for 1; they then restricted Newton to 30, with some accurate bowling and sharp fielding.

This mini-tournament was held as part of the Tim Bayly Cricket Festival, with games held in conjunction with the adult Sixes tournament; and all the teams were rewarded with a delicious barbecue served on the boundary.IMG_0035-30

Congratulations to all involved, for being part of another excellent and historic day, initiating inter-schools cricket in Lima.
