Pre-season Fixtures

The 2014 cricket season is upon us and the pre-season fixtures have whet the appetite for an action-packed league campaign. Peru competed in the Amistad Cup in Brazil and the Indian sides have been holding significant off-season training. The Indian team claimed the Ambassadors Cup at the expense of the Australians, who won the tournament last year. The Indian side made their pre-season training pay dividends as they beat the UK in the final to claim the tournament, now in its second year.

The Champions Cup, Viv Ash Invitational and Giresh Chugani World Series (Rest of the World v India) have all seen large turnouts. The games have been well supported and the LCFC groundsmen have been working tirelessly to heal the wicket following the football season.

Players now turn their attention to the league as teams contest the Apertura followed by Clausura seasons. Some players are away in these early weeks so we could see, as last year, a different team winning the Apertura (won by Chak De) and Clausura (won by LCFC).

Certainly the Australians are beginning to tremble at the thought of facing England in the Ashes match at the beginning of March. Or is it the other way around?

Currently Peru’s cricketers battle amongst each other but soon they shall unite as one and strive for glory at the South American Championships in April.
